Just like for all dysfunctions in a person’s system the sole reason for illnesses is the imbalance of the 3 body Humors. According to Ayurveda these Humors are called Doshas and are characterized by the five elements of nature. They are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Altogether they are called Tridhosa.

Vata has the element of Ether and Air; Pitta the element of fire and Kapha the element of Earth and Water.

By being familiar with these elements we can observe the structure, the color of the haemorrhoids, recognise which body type has an imbalance and we can go on to the therapy which is none other than the balancing of the body type.

Haemorrhoids are veins which have expanded. They protrude and can be found under the anus. This area is called the intermuscular groove (white line of Hilton) and is the stool exit.

Haemorrhoids may be either internal or external. The anal canal where the haemorrhoids can be found has two types of anal skin. The skin which can be found on the bottom wall is not sensitive to pain but the skin below this line is extremely sensitive.

The internal haemorrhoids appear above this line and bleeding does occur but there is usually no pain. The external haemorrhoids appear below and are in general painful. It may be because there is blood clotting and the inflammation that occurs causes the pain. Another characteristic is the swelling of the rectum.

Toxins in the body are created due to weak digestion (Ama) and defecation becomes difficult so that feces (useless for the body) accumulate and settle in the rectum. The result of this weak digestion comes in the form of sweat, urine and feces which block the circulation of the body canals and give the feeling of inflammation.According to Ayurveda there are two types of external haemorrhoids. One is characterised as genetic and the other is developed during one’s life. The symptoms for both these types are dryness and bleeding.

Haemorrhoids by birth---Sahaja (Ιndian)

Fat and inappropriate or unhealthy actions by parents are responsible. For the Tridhosa type (all three Humors) haemorrhoids can’t be fully cured just as in all hereditary diseases. The form of these is: Some are round, dry, asymmetrical or mixed up, usually yellow-white, small and characterised as a disease. These people have usually been born thin, weak, in poor health and suffer from extreme gas and feces.

Other symptoms: poor color, stones in the urinary system. The feces may range from constipation to dryness in diarrhoea or to normal. A symptom like this may bring other dangers so must not be ignored. A visit to a doctor is a must. Sometimes the feces have toxins and mucus.

They may change color and become white, umber, green, yellow, reddish and also become thin, thick and slimy. Strong pain may develop either in the navel area, in the bladder or in the pelvis area (Apana Vayu).Other symptoms are: dysentery, urinary difficulty, diabetes, bowel sounds, a sticky feeling in the heart and in the sensory organs. These people are prone to sour burping, poor digestion, irritability and weak physical condition.

Further symptoms are coughing, difficulty in breathing, asthma, thirst, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, chronic rhinitis, sneezing, fainting and headaches.

Ear problems, fever, joint and bone pains are part of general weakness as are stiffness of the chest, stomach and heart area, back and lower back pains and sciatica. They may be deep thinkers, thoughtless or lazy.

After giving birth---Janmotta- raja(Ιndian)

After giving birth there are 5 types of this illness that may appear. There may be an imbalance of the Humors VATA—PITTA—KAPHA and Tridhosa (all 3 Humors). The Humors or body types VATA and KAPHA are the reasons for dry haemorrhoids whereas ΡΙΤΤΑ is for the bleeding ones.

Acquired haemorrhoids

As mentioned above haemorrhoids may develop because of extreme deterioration of Doshas(the body Humors), through bad diet and lifestyle which weaken the peptic fire. Another cause may be too much sex, horse riding, excitement or sedentary lifestyle. Deterioration reoccurs when sitting for a long time especially on a hard surface. Other causes: washing of the area with very cold water, difficulty during defecation and pressure to rid oneself of gas, urine and feces. Suppression of fever, stomach tumors, diarrhea, extreme Ama (toxins).

Stomach ulcer, disorders of duodenum, swelling, anaemia and extreme exercise may be the cause of this illness.
These disorders in pregnant women may lead to abortion or miscarriage. Undigested food which creates toxins has helped to create the above. Feces find refuge in the rectum, hardening and creating friction from which haemorrhoids develop.

Simultaneous destruction of all 3 body juices (Doshas---VATA-PITTA- KAPHA), weakness in the skin, muscles and fat, vein obstruction in the rectum. The dominant Dosha will decide about the serious causes and symptoms.
